REDMAN Atlantique, in collaboration with Martin Duplantier Architectes and landscape architect Debarre Duplantiers, won the EPF Nouvelle Aquitaine competition for the transformation of Îlot Renaudin. This ambitious project marks a turning point for the revitalization of downtown Angoulême and the fight against urban sprawl.
Îlot Renaudin will include 8,000 sqm of mixed-use space, with offices, shops, and an 80-room hotel, contributing to the diversification of urban offerings.
Once the period of revealing archaeological excavations is complete, construction can begin on this strategic site, ideally located in the city center and close to the city’s train station.
Particular attention has been paid to the renaturation of the former wasteland and biodiversity, notably through the installation of green roofs and wildlife shelters.
Matthias Navarro and Nicolas Ponson, co-founders of REDMAN Group, said: “The transformation of urban wastelands represents opportunities for us to revitalize spaces, shape more vibrant and connected neighborhoods. Urban regeneration is much more than a simple physical transformation of urban spaces, it is a profound commitment to local communities to create living spaces for the long term. This commitment is embedded in our DNA, and we are happy to contribute, in our own way, to the new face and vitality of this district of Grand Angoulême”.
